What kind of home are you looking for? Do you want a Detached Single Family Home? Or will you prefer Condo Living? When you have determined how much home you can afford, this is the next step to reach your goal.

When you own a home or condo, you will need to be prepared financially for upkeep and maintenance - almost daily!!! When an appliance fails or a window breaks, you are the landlord. You will need to cough up the cash to fix it. I always suggest my first time buyers to set aside money each month to cover extra-ordinary costs. If you are in a detached home, I suggest 1% of the homes value. If you are in a condo, use .5%. Be prepared to prevent cash-strapping yourself.
